Have you buzzfunneled?

January 30, 2012

In case you haven’t heard, Indianapolis is hosting Super Bowl XLVI!! To capture all the event action, Borshoff created buzzfunnel.me, a single, integrated social media site featuring event experiences from the fan perspective. We hope to connect people from around the world and offer them an inside look of Indianapolis and the big game!

The Borshoff crew has been going out in street teams to capture tons of video footage that has then funneled to the site. People can also upload their own videos to YouTube or Vimeo and tag with “buzzfunnel.” Tweets from @buzzfunnelme stream live to the site, as do tweets using the following hashtags: #SuperBowl, #SB46, #Social46 and #buzzfunnel.

To read more about buzzfunnel, check out this Borshoff blog or follow @buzzfunnelme on Twitter.

Oh yeah–and check out the SITE!

Take me to a beach

January 22, 2012

My last semester of graduate school has started. I’m already overwhelmed with the amount of work I have coming up. I know, I know–one of my goals this year was to stay positive and beat anxiety, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get a little stressed out at times.  Fifteen weeks. That’s all I have left. Sometimes, when I begin to feel really stressed out, I’ll look at a picture (like this one) and feel a whole lot better. I mean, who wouldn’t be calmed by this pic? I took it this past December in Ft. Myers. At least the next time I go to Ft. Myers, I’ll have my MA. Until then, I’ll picture myself on a hammock with this scene in mind.

2012 Resolutions

January 10, 2012

It wouldn’t be a New Year without resolutions, right? I’m not one to usually make (or keep) resolutions. Fortunately, there’s never been anything I wanted to change about my life. But since (I think) 2012 is my “year of change,” I decided to go against the grain. After much thought, I realized resolutions don’t have to just be about physical changes—like drinking less soda or working out more. Instead, I think my resolutions fall more in line with mental and emotional changes. So I decided to mix it up. This year I will:

  1. Balance my time between work, school and play (I need to do a much better job at this!)
  2. Stay positive (in relation to work and school anxiety.)
  3. Embrace change (even if that means cutting my hair, GASP!)
  4. Reconnect with my faith (always been a believer, just need to be more consistent.)
  5. Eat only ONE piece of bread where bread is offered (okay, this is my stupid/silly goal, but I love bread and butter, and well, now I’m limited to one piece when eating out.)

So there they are! I’m always true to my word so I look forward to meeting these goals and becoming a better me.

2011 Reflections; 2012 Forecasts

January 3, 2012

I’m not one to usually ‘be ready’ for a New Year to begin. The holiday season is my favorite time of year. With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, there’s a part of me that wishes it could last forever.

This year was different.

2011 was still a great year! A lot of exciting events happened: Scott (boyfriend) graduated from pharmacy school and Charlie (brother) graduated from the University of Michigan. I celebrated my two-year anniversary at Borshoff, was promoted to an account manager, and also visited Las Vegas and New Orleans for the first time. My parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Key West where they so kindly let Charlie, Scott and me tag along. I made my first ‘big girl’ purchase and bought a new car (Love my Rav4!). And, I just got back from the most amazing vacation in Ft. Myers with Scott’s family where we rang in the New Year on the beach as we released paper lanterns into the night sky.

However, 2011 was also a sad year. I lost two grandparents (my mom’s parents) within four months of each other. My other grandmother’s health declined significantly, and my uncle divorced. I’ve been very fortunate throughout my life, but these events have taught me how to grieve and that it’s okay to do so.

But now 2012 is here and it will certainly be a year of change for me. In May, Scott and I will celebrate our four-year anniversary. It will also be around this time (maybe even sooner) that we start looking for a house of our own. I can’t wait!! Slowly, we’re taking that next big step so who knows what will come after (or before) that…

Also in May—GRADUATION! I will finally complete my MA degree at IUPUI. Next Thursday I begin the first class of my last semester (taking two classes). I’m actually looking forward to classes starting just because it’s one step closer to saying hello to my diploma in May and goodbye to outside assignments after work hours. It’s a good thing Scott and I are buying a house because I’m going to have to find a hobby or something to keep me busy with all my extra free time. Good thing I love decorating and organizing.

Finally, this September I turn 25. That’s halfway between 20 and 30. I consider that a huge milestone, too.

With that said, I’m excited the New Year is here so I can start making small steps to big changes in my life. I am more than ready for the next stage to begin.

2011 in review

January 2, 2012

So this is pretty cool! The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for my blog! I love infographics.

Here’s an excerpt: A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,800 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the report. I’m not sure what numbers are impressive or not, but I’m happy with these results! I’m just thrilled that people find my blog interesting to read! Thanks for the views!
